My son doing what he does best. Jumping at the track in Howell, NJ
Jean M. Oberg MS, DVM

I have been very fortunate to know at an early age that I have always wanted to be a veterinarian. I grew up on Long Island with a menagerie of pets. Some of my pets were horses, ponies, cats, dogs, goats and numerous pocket pets. My most enjoyable hobby growing up was showing horses in equitation, hunters and jumper classes. I rode for many years with Coral Thompson from the Quiet Winter Farm located in Colts Neck, NJ. In my spare time from 1990-2000, I was a licensed official and worked as a steward and/or judge for many horse shows throughout the east coast. I have been retired from the horse show world for the last 10 years because I am been extremely active with my small son, traveling with his BMX bicycle competitions. However, the love for horses has been and will always be a passion of mine. I have breed and trained many dogs throughout my life. I have shown Poodles, Dobermans and Newfoundlands for many years and love just about every breed of dogs and cats. You might say I have no exact favorites.

My education consists of 10 years of formal training to become a veterinarian. I went to the University of Florida for 4 years, getting my BS degree. Go Gators!!!! I did an additional 2 years of graduate work at Long Island University where I got an MS degree in Medical Biology. Then I went on to complete my Doctor of Veterinary Medical Degree in 1988 after another 4 years of training at Tuskegee University in Alabama. To date, I continue to educate myself, learning the newest and latest treatments for small animals, and stay current in all aspects of veterinary medicine.

I am presently an officer of Palm Beach Veterinary Society and I am proud to be a veterinarian. The best thing in life for me is being in this wonderful field. Although some days can be extremely sad when you treat a pet that just doesn't do well, but for the most part, being a veterinarian makes me whole and complete. I couldn't see myself doing anything else but working in this wonderful field.

I moved back to Florida after living in NJ for about 10 years. In NJ I owned and operated an award winning hospital in Toms River, NJ. I sold that hospital in 2004 with the sole purpose of moving back here to be with my family and raise my son in Wellington. Owning a veterinary hospital has been a passion of mine for years, and I am very excited about opening my new facility in Wellington. This will be the second hospital which I have built from scratch. I come with some 20 years experience and will promise to give you "pawsitively" the best care you have ever gotten for your pet. Our hospital will have the latest and most modern state of the art equipment which will mimic our human counterpart. Your pet will experience what the best has to offer. I welcome you to our hospital and look forward to treating your beloved pets.
